- The Firm is a thriller by John Grisham. The protagonist, the young lawyer Mitchell Y. McDeere, starts working for a small law firm. In the course of the story he discovers that the firm actually is part of a Mafia family and earns its living with money laundering. McDeere decides to help the FBI. The firm keeps its members and especially the nonpartners under strict surveillance. When they become suspicious about Mitch working for the FBI they start observing him twenty-four-seven.
