- The Firm is a thriller by John Grisham. The protagonist, the young lawyer Mitchell Y. McDeere, starts working for a small law firm. In the course of the story he discovers that the firm actually is part of a Mafia family and earns its living with money laundering. McDeere decides to help the FBI. Little by little Mitch finds out about the firm's racketeering.
