- The Firm is a thriller by John Grisham. The protagonist, the young lawyer Mitchell Y. McDeere, starts working for a small law firm. In the course of the story he discovers that the firm actually is part of a Mafia family that earns its living by money laundering. McDeere decides to help the FBI. Since the firm is ruled by the Mafia its internal organisation is strict. There are conservative rules to follow and a huge amount of interference with the lawyer's private life.
