- Marilyn Krysl is an American poet and author of short stories. She has published seven collections of poetry and four of short stories. Both Krysl's poetry and her short stories regularly appear in popular magazines like The Atlantic, The Nation, and Best American Short Stories. Besides writing, Krysl has volunteered for a number of organisations, has taught ESL in The People's Republic of China and has volunteered with Mother Theresa's sisters in Calcutta. Krysl currently volunteers with The Lost Boys of Sudan. Her short story 'The Artichoke' was first published in 1976.
